The Ministry of Culture has launched the Global Engagement Scheme<\/strong> to promote India\u2019s rich cultural heritage worldwide. This initiative aims to strengthen international cultural ties, enhance India’s global identity, and boost inbound tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Highlights of the Scheme<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The scheme operates through Indian Missions abroad and focuses on cultural festivals, grants for cultural societies, and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Festival of India: Showcasing Indian Culture Globally<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Under this scheme, the Festival of India<\/strong> allows Indian artists to perform abroad, featuring:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Folk arts<\/strong> \u2013 music, dance, theatre, and puppetry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Classical and traditional dance<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Contemporary and experimental dance<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Classical and semi-classical music<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Theatre performances<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    The Ministry has empaneled 627 artists\/groups<\/strong>, with folk artists receiving \u20b935,000 for lead performers<\/strong> and \u20b97,000 for accompanying artists<\/strong> per performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Support for Indo-Foreign Cultural Societies<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Grants are provided to Indo-Foreign Friendship Cultural Societies<\/strong> through Indian Missions abroad to foster cultural ties and mutual appreciation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    ICCR\u2019s Role in Promoting Indian Culture<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)<\/strong> plays a key role by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Conducting yoga, dance, and music classes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Teaching Sanskrit and Hindi<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Organizing seminars, exhibitions, and cultural exchanges<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Sponsoring scholarships for foreign students<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Financial Assistance for Veteran Artists<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      The scheme also provides \u20b96,000 monthly financial aid<\/strong> to veteran artists aged 60 and above<\/strong> who have significantly contributed to Indian arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
